Where it comes from
Białka Tatrzańska, Jurgów and Czarna Góra are former Spiš and Podhale shepherding villages, where farming and sheep grazing dominated well into the 20th century. Downhill skiing only developed here on a larger scale at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries - successive chairlifts and snowmaking systems were built mainly after 2000, transforming the slopes of Kotelnica, Kaniówka and Grapa into one of the most popular ski regions in the country. The glue holding together the previously scattered lifts was the shared Tatry Super Ski pass, which united the resorts of Podhale (and part of the stations on the Slovak side too) into one ticketing system.
